Wooden Fried Eggs! w/ SEATTLE CREATES and Eileen Xu In-Person

Led by architect and woodworker Eileen Xu, founder of OODSHOP, this workshop introduces woodworking rooted in material honesty, precision, and meaning. Through a mix of video demonstrations and hands-on making, participants will follow the complete process of creating a thoughtfully designed sculptural object in solid wood, from concept and digital modeling to fabrication, assembly, and finishing.

The workshop explores responsible material use, essential safety considerations, and foundational design mindsets—attention to detail, utilization of software and technology, and iterative problem-solving. This workshop is designed for students interested in architecture, art, and craft who want to understand how thoughtful design, engineering logic, and technical mastery come together to create work that is both enduring and personal.

Eileen Xu is a Seattle-based woodworker, architect, and founder of OODSHOP, a sustainable woman-owned woodworking studio that crafts a balance between nostalgic narratives and contemporary presence in its designs and fabrication of an ever growing body of work that spans bespoke furniture, memorable architectural finishes, and sculptural art objects.

Growing up moving back and forth between China and Singapore, Eileen was passionate about both the arts and the sciences, and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Engineering in Landscape Architecture from Tongji University in Shanghai, and a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute, New York. While practicing as a licensed architect in Seattle, she found her true calling in woodworking--  hands-on craftsmanship that merges engineering, problem-solving, and dynamic creativity while honoring natural materials and cultural memories. Warm, meticulously intentional, and energetically alive, Eileen’s work embodies a lifestyle centered on purposeful presence and genuine connection.
