Stratacut Claymation Workshop In-Person
In this Stop Motion Animation Workshop we will work together to explore this old media production technique that has had a renaissance in popular culture. Each particiapnt will be given a few colors of clay to mold and form into a variable pattern. We'll then set up a miniature studio and camera before marking where we place the clay. After that we'll cut the clay thinly, piece by piece, taking a photo with each slice. Unlike the Lego stopmotion excercise of meticulosly moving your piece frame by frame, this excersie forces you to think ahead and imagine how your clay animation will play out as you slice it. Will you make a ball that gets bigger and smaller, a rotating square, or something more abstract? Once we get to see it completed, we'll also explore what steps you can take to improve your claymation skills to achieve your goals.
